Home Sweet STL - Small Print
This gem was created from the draft design I made for my garage door in the Bevo Mill Neighborhood. Of course I had to feature the Bevo Mill. Did you know that Bevo is known historically as an immigrant neighborhood where Dutch and German newcomers settled, hence the windmill.
You’ll also see a nod to the Sebilj. This fountain pays tribute to one of the largest Bosnian immigrant populations in the US which has long been centered in Bevo. The area is now frequently referred to as Little Bosnia and rightfully so, as these neighbors have contributed so much to the revitalization and growth of the area. The fountain is a replica of the Sebilj fountain in Sarajevo, the capitol of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The legacy of Bevo and south city as an immigrant community continues today with organizations like Oasis International, House of Good, The International Institute and more helping newcomers settle in and adjust to live in Home Sweet STL.
Open edition print. Hand signed by artist. Keep it black and white or add your own color!
Actual image will be printed on 8.5x11 archival paper in proportion to the original leaving white border around the image.
